About the Author

Richard Osborne in the author of many internationally bestselling books from Philosophy for Beginners (Random House) to Megawords (Sage) and most recently Art Theory for Beginners (Zidane Press) . His proven track record in distilling information and presenting it in highly accessible, but not simplified, form is demonstrated in the global success of the previous works. Sociology for Beginners (Introducing Sociology) is used in over 50 countries, and most recently published in China. Dr Angela Brew is an artist, drawing teacher and researcher based in London.

She studied for her PhD in drawing and cognition at CCW (Chelsea, Camberwell and Wimbledon) Graduate School, UAL.

She runs the Brew International Drawing School, is co-founder of Thinking through Drawing, and is a member of The Centre for Drawing, UAL.

This is easily the best introduction to film theory I have read. It is concise and at the same time far reaching in scope, covering all the relevant theories as the science and art of film developed over time.
