Ian Marber is the UK's leading nutritionist and founder of The Food Doctor brand. He is the co-author of several books, including The Food Doctor, Food Doctor in the City and In Bed with the Food Doctor. Ian writes for many leading publications and is a regular contributor to The Sunday Times and has also appeared on the BBC and GMTV. He lives in London.
Marber's credentials are as a nutritionist who has battled with his own weight, as head of The Food Doctor Clinic in Notting Hill, whose clients are referred by doctors and gastroenterologists, and as broadcasting guest and author of various Food Doctor books. His diet aims for weight loss coupled with good digestive health via lean proteins, healthy fats, fibre and some complex carbohydrates. He prescribes a meatless, light diet for seven days and then a long-term eating plan with 10 principles, such as always eating breakfast, and following his programme at least 80 per cent of the time. It's difficult for anyone else to challenge the market when Dr Atkins and similar diets have such an effective hold, but this book benefits from the enticing colour photos and nutritional sense.
