After winning the Prix de Rome, Pierre Arizzoli-Clémentel was appointed director of the Musée des Arts Decoratifs et des Tissus in Lyon, before becoming director of the Musée et le Domaine Nationale du Château de Versailles for over fifteen years. He has published numerous books on eighteenth- and nineteenth-century French decorative art, and is the author of the first monograph devoted to the architect and interior designer Emilio Terry.
