Anthony Browne is the author-illustrator of numerous books for children, including the ever-popular Willy books. He has received the international Hans Christian Andersen Medal, the NEW YORK TIMES BOOK REVIEW Best Illustrated Book Award, the Kurt Maschler Award three times, and the Kate Greenaway Medal twice. Anthony Browne says that he wrote and illustrated GORILLA "while my wife was expecting our first child, and I suppose I must have been thinking about what it means to be a father."
Anthony Browne has painted a new cover for the 30th-anniversary
edition of one of his most touching and memorable picture books,
Gorilla. ... This new jacket is as good an excuse as any to
introduce this wonderful book to any child from age 4 to 10 who
might otherwise miss it.
—The Wall Street Journal
If you don't have it, the 30th-anniversary edition of this classic
1983 story is worth adding to your child's library. ...
Illustrations perfectly reveal Hannah's longing and the trepidation
of a child asking for something when she already knows the answer:
No.
