Tumtum and Nutmeg: The Great Escape is a miniature masterpiece that will be loved by generations to come.
Emily Bearn grew up in London, and started out in journalism at the
age of 20 when she joined Harpers & Queen magazine.
She has since worked for The Times and The Sunday Telegraph, where
she spent eight years as a feature writer. Philip Franks is an
English actor and theatre director. Philip was born in London and
first fell in love with theatre at age six, when his parents took
him along to see a production of The Tempest. The following year,
he insisted on going with them again to see a production of Hamlet,
and at age seven, he was hooked for life. Philip is perhaps best
known for his roles as tax inspector Cedric 'Charley' Charlton in
the British sitcom The Darling Buds of May, and Sgt. Raymond
Craddock on Heartbeat. He has also made guest appearances in
Absolutely Fabulous, Pie in the Sky, Midsomer Murders and Foyle's
War.
‘Bearn’s style is as crisp and warm as a home-baked biscuit.’
*The Times*
'Told simply, with charming detail, this old-fashioned and
well-published story... will delight children who are of an age to
relish secret friends and a cosy world in miniature'
*The Sunday Times*
