About the Author

GUPI GAYEN & BAGHA BAYEN has been a very popular kids' storybook written by UpendraKishor Roy Chowdhury. This was filmed by renowned film maker Satyajit Ray, who won many laurels in movie making. I have grown up reading such books. I want my grandchildren to have an appreciation of Bengali classic pieces as well. It is my humble attempt of translating from Bengali to English for them, though it was rather difficult to recreate the fantasy world, depicted by the author.
