About the Author

Matthew Sample served as an officer in the British army followed by a career in civil aviation. Retiring as a captain with Vietnam Airlines in 2011, he spent the following three years travelling on a solo journey around the world. His aim was to accomplish this without flying. This journey took him through 42 countries and he wished on many occasions that he possessed an equivalent of Handy Lingo. His inability to find one is what inspired him to produce this book.
