About the Author

Jennifer Carson lives in Michigan with her husband, four sons, and many four legged friends. She grew up on a steady diet of Muppet movies and renaissance faires, and would occasionally be caught reading under the blankets with a flashlight. Besides telling tales, she creates animal and fantasy creatures and characters in embroidery, watercolor, marker, and digitally, and publishes sewing patterns. Her fine art, books, and sewing patterns can be seen online at www.thedragoncharmer.com and her illustration work can be seen at www.furandfeatherfriends.com.

Reviews

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It's a sweet story of finding courage within yourself to face the things you need to. The book itself is beautiful. The illustrations are gorgeous, and they're placed beautifully so that some plot points are revealed visually rather than textually. This is one book I'd choose hardcopy over ebook if only for that reason. This is a book that's been illustrated, not a book that happens to have illustrations. My 12yo daughter loved it. She read it in two days, staying up way too late on the last night---but she just couldn't put it down! I humored her, and I don't regret it. I have fond memories of the books I just had to finish, and I'm glad this will be one of those books for my girl. A more engrossing adventure for children, I have not read, in years. Hapenny Magick is a somewhat traditional tale, with poor orphaned Maewyn left at the clutches of evil Gelbane at the start, but she is no shrinking violet waiting for her Prince to save the day. No. When a strange, talking crow lures her away from enslavement to the comparative bliss of a Wood Wizard's cozy home, Mae discovers that, small as she may be, her destiny is great.Jennifer Carson's well written fairy-tale immediately takes us to a fantasy land of little people. Even when Mae discovers that she possesses magical powers, she stays loyal to her friends and neighbors. When she knows that wicked trolls have infiltrated into the land and others are on their way preparing to destroy it, she uses all of her magical powers and inner strength to try and figure out a way to save her people. My heart raced as a battle ensued. I'll leave the ending for you to read. I believe that this book will tickle the fantasy of any age reader or listener.
