About the Author

Babs Carryer is a serial technology entrepreneur who is active in multiple entrepreneurial activities. She teaches entrepreneurship, provides mentorship and coaching to early-stage companies, and writes about entrepreneurship on her blog, NewVenturist (http: //newventurist.com). She is currently director of education and outreach for the Innovation Institute at the University of Pittsburgh (http: //innovation.pitt.edu) where she works to inspire faculty and student around innovation and entrepreneurship. Babs spent 15 years at Carnegie Mellon University, helping to start and grow the university's entrepreneurial ecosystem. She was director of training and faculty development at VentureWell. Babs is President of Carryer Consulting, and has worked with hundreds of companies and startups to grow their businesses. Babs is also co-founder of LaunchCyte (http: //launchcyte.com), with a portfolio of five companies which have commercialized university technologies into marketplace products. Babs has a Masters in Public Management from Heinz College at CMU, and a BA from Mills College in CA. She is a co-founder of the Pittsburgh Chapter of Women in Bio (http: //www.womeninbio.org/wib-chapters/pittsburgh). Babs makes her home in Pittsburgh, where she is an active member of the startup scene.
