David Haywood was born in Auckland, New Zealand. His life has meandered without discernible direction. After deciding to purchase a boat, he moved to Christchurch, one of New Zealand's few inland cities. After beginning a university degree in nineteenth century literature, he eventually graduated with a doctorate in engineering. In between, he found employment as a forklift driver, guitarist and songwriter, road-works lollipop man, computer programmer, librarian, university lecturer, and research scientist. His critically-acclaimed books for grown-ups, 'My First Stabbing' and 'The New Zealand Reserve Bank Annual 2010', are also available through Public Address Books. David Haywood is married with one child.
