"I started reading this book with skepticism because I didn't think
I was a highly sensitive person (HSP for short). My impression of
an HSP was way off from what they're really about, perhaps a little
stereotypical. I thought an HSP would be the type who would take a
comment too seriously and end up running to the closest bathroom to
cry. Safe to say, it threw me for a bit of a loop and humbled me.
Need I forget that books such as these are much deeper than what
goes on at the surface of the human mind.
With that said, I ended up reading this book in a single day. While
this may not be difficult for some, reading for me can be hit or
miss and to finish reading even a single chapter, it has to get my
interest and keep it. Well, lo and behold, it did and then some.
This book is somewhat short (hence the reason I was able to read it
in one day) but don't let that fool or deter you. It's full of
information and if you have an interest in psychology, are an HSP,
or want to learn about HSP's, I'd definitely check it out.
What I didn't know that I know now is that I can be highly
sensitive which I wasn't aware of until I read this book. There
were several "ah ha" moments throughout and for me, it was a
paradigm shift. Just for one example, it covered such things as
being overstimulated in crowded, noisy, or bright places, all of
which are traits of an HSP. I've always wondered why it is I tend
to get highly agitated in crowded places (not Agoraphobia which is
a fear of crowds) and find myself looking for an open space or the
closest exit. I cannot stand loud noises and depending on the
situation, I prefer low light. DING!!! Bells went off in my head
when I read this.
As a first time reader on the subject of HSP's, I can't say for
sure that I am one as many people who are introverted carry similar
traits to an HSP, but this book opened a door (and my eyes) for me
to continue researching and to gain additional knowledge on the
subject. Good read, definitely recommended!"

"When I was in my 40s I realized that I was a sensitive person. I
am more strongly affected by my environment, sensitive to the
energy and feelings of others, and I feel deeply about things and
process some thoughts slowly. Most non_HSP around me find this
frustrating.
If you're sensitive like me and need help managing in a world that
seems designed for those who don't have to deal with an overactive
mind that never turns off, this book will definitely help you.It
explains what it is to be a Highly Sensitive Person, everyday life
and social situations, relationships, work, health, and self-care,
and for those who are seeking more healing from past trauma, this
book offers real-life advice for situations that are sensitive
people find difficult. This book is easy to read and straight to
the point."
