About the Author

Uli Schmetzer was a well-known foreign correspondent for Reuters News Agency in Latin America and for the Chicago Tribune in Europe, the Middle East and Asia. Since he left journalism Schmetzer, an Australian of German descent, has written six books. 'Times of Terror' is a correspondent's critical autobiography of his profession. 'The Chinese Juggernaut' tells the stories of prominent Chinese expatriates and illustrates how Chinese minorities gained complete economic control over South East Asian countries without firing a shot but failed in Australia - until recent times. 'Gaza', is Schmetzer's first novel, the romance between a German and a Jew set among the insoluble and cruel Israeli-Palestinian conflict. 'The Lama's Lover' tells ten startling short stories from around the world that cover areas about injustice, greed and misogyny. 'The Children of Si-tho' has rookie reporter Serge Dunlov in Mexico encountering high priestess Maria Sabina, the local indigenous struggle and official corruption. Serge Dunlov also appears in 'The Honorable Hack', caught in political machinations in Latin America, ultimately being entrapped in Chile's anti-terrorism witch-hunt. All the author's books are based on personal experiences encounted during his career. Schmetzer lives partly in Venice, Italy in Noosa, Australia and in Puerto Princessa, Philippines.
