About the Author

Nuno Cerca is a Principal Investigator at the Centre of Biological Engineering of the University of Minho, Portugal (www.ceb.uminho.pt). He is an "Investigador FCT", a merit distinction awarded by the Portuguese Fundation of Science and Technology (www.fct.pt). During his research careear, he worked at Harvard Medical School, Boston, MA, USA and at Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, VA, USA. His current research interests are in the field of Staphylococcus epidermidis and Gardnerella vaginalis biofilms, with particular interest in gene expression and its relationship with bacterial virulence.
