'Covering all of the diverse aspects of international economic law,
this book is a comprehensive, accessible yet scholarly review that
scholars and students of international economic law, as well as
practitioners, will find an invaluable and thought-provoking
resource. This work will surely become the standard reference
textbook in the field.' Julien Chaisse, City University of Hong
Kong, & President, Asia-Pacific FDI Network
'This textbook is a very welcome addition. It captures the critical
components at just the right level of technical detail as it spans
the many interconnected subfields of international economic law
without losing the heart and soul of the field.' Colin B. Picker,
Executive Dean, Faculty of Business and Law, University of
Wollongong, Australia (and co-founder of the Society of
International Economic Law)
'Professors Choukroune and Nedumpara have delivered a monumental
treatise on the expansive and dynamic discipline of international
economic law. The authors' deep understanding of international
economic law is reflected in their close attention to emerging
issues and timely debates while deftly explaining complex facts and
difficult legal concepts. The authors provide a solid theoretical
foundation for the many treaty-based rules and legal judgments,
bringing life to legal principles which cut across the broad
field's interrelated sub-disciplines.' David Collins, The City Law
School, City, University of London
'This wide-ranging text comprehensively covers international
economic law not only in the traditional areas but in the new areas
relating to the digital economy, trade finance and fisheries
subsidies. It combines practical issues with the theoretical bases
of the subject effectively, and deals with fundamental debates,
fairly stating the different viewpoints. It deserves to be used
widely as the standard text for the understanding of the subject.'
M. Sornarajah, Emeritus Professor of International Law, National
University of Singapore
'This comprehensive, up-to-date and interdisciplinary textbook
offers refreshing 'Asian perspectives' on almost all fields of
modern international economic law, distinguishing it from previous
textbooks written by American and European authors with different
(e.g. neo-liberal and ordoliberal) perspectives. It offers an
indispensable source of knowledge and inspiration for understanding
and better developing international economic law in times of global
health, environmental and digital economy challenges, and related
governance crises.' Ernst-Ulrich Petersmann, European University
Institute (Florence) and World Trade Organization (Geneva)
'International Economic Law by Professor Choukroune and Professor
Nedumpara delivers what it promises. Despite having a broad title
and scope, this new textbook does not lose attention to detail, and
breaks down with precision long-lasting and new issues in
international economic law. From trade law to investment, from
finance to fisheries subsidies, from development to the digital
economy, in International Economic Law, practitioners, academics,
business actors and students will find all the necessary tools to
understand and analyse the contemporary challenges surrounding this
relatively new branch of international law.' Gabrielle Marceau,
Senior Counsellor WTO Secretariat
'This comprehensive, well-organised volume on international
economic law is an excellent resource for teaching and scholarship.
It combines clear explanation, helpful figures and excerpts, good
summaries, review questions, exercises and lists of further
reading.' Gregory Shaffer, Chancellor's Professor, University of
California, Irvine School of Law
'International Economic Law will surely become a must-have
reference text for students, academics, practitioners and
negotiators alike. Until the publication of this important work, we
were missing a comprehensive textbook covering the wide spectrum of
international economic relations, including, inter alia, trade,
investment, finance, digital economy and development assistance. A
welcome combination of theory and practice, it is written by two
distinguished scholars living in different parts of the world and,
as a result, offers a variety of perspectives on the many topics
dealt with.' Laurence Boisson de Chazournes, University of Geneva
