About the Author

An avid traveler, Michael has visited more than 100 countries. He prefers visiting countries off the beaten path and learning about places all but left out of our history books. Michael is the host of the TV show The Layover Experience, which shows travelers how to see more countries without breaking the bank. He enjoys teaching people his unique method of traveling so that they can travel cheaper, smarter, and safer.

"I thought I was a seasoned- "in-the-know" traveler with a lot of insider information, that is until I read International Travel Secrets. This book offered heretofore unknown ( to me) tips such as using the ITA Matrix to scope out significant reductions in flight fares, having a "fake wallet" as a protection against theft, emailing scanned passport information as insurance against a lost passport and many, many, other suggestions including avoiding unnecessary insurance, and knowing how to choose phone communication plans while abroad. I might even take his challenge to spend 2 days in a city with a part planned and part unplanned itinerary. This is a great little book with fantastic ideas for optimizing layover times and scoping out the best deals on hotel accommodations. It's truly a great resource for all travelers, even those who are well seasoned!"
