Ajoy K. Sarkar, Ph.D. is a Professor of Textile
Development and Marketing at the Fashion Institute of Technology,
State University of New York, NY. He has over 30 years of
experience in teaching, research, and consulting in fibers, textile
coloration, finishing, product development, textile analysis, and
application of textile technology to design. He is a winner of the
FIT President’s Award for Faculty Excellence in Curricular
Innovation as well as a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Scholarship and
Creative Activities. Additionally, Dr. Sarkar serves as a member of
the Publication Policy Committee of the International Textile and
Apparel Association (ITAA) and as an associate editor for the AATCC
Journal of Research.
Professor Ingrid Johnson has more than 40 years of
experience in the textile industry. She holds a baccalaureate
degree in textiles from Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science
and a master’s degree in textile from North Carolina State
University. She is a full professor at the Fashion Institute of
Technology (F.I.T.) where she has been chair and long standing
member of the Textile Development & Marketing department, acting
Vice President for Academic Affairs for the institution and
currently acting associate chair of the Home Products department.
She has lectured both in the United States and internationally and
is frequently sought by the media to offer insight into textiles
and industry trends, including the Wall Street Journal, Wired
Magazine, and Glamour Magazine, Real Simple among others.
