Jack Reacher jumps off a bus and walks fourteen miles down a country road into Margrave, Georgia. An arbitrary decision he's about to regret. Reacher is the only stranger in town on the day they have had their first homicide in thirty years. The cops arrest Reacher and the police chief turns eyewitness to place him at the scene. As nasty secrets leak out, and the body count mounts, one thing is for sure. They picked the wrong guy to take the fall.

Wow, what a great read. The first of Lee Child's "Jack Reacher" novels and it really sucks you in from the beginning. A wonderful mystery-thriller that is impossible to put down once you begin. This is the only problem I have with Child's books. You get so involved in the story and before you know it, its only been a few days and the book is finished. One of the best in the series.

This is the first Jack Reacher story and I intend reading them all!!!! It was a fast rollicking read just kept one guessing all along and the conclusion was most satisfactory, not sentimental in any way! Lee Child is a British author writing with an American theme and he does it well, not too many American colloquialisms. I thoroughly recommend this book to any who like a good thriller.

In a word awesome. I totally enjoyed this book from cover to cover

Good thriller, does what a thriller is supposed to do, and keeps the reader turning pages at a cracking pace. Very violent as I had been warned by Nancy Pearl , some moments made me go 'eeew..' but I was grossed out in a good way. Reading the book was sort of like watching an engaging action movie (I'm thinking "True Lies" here...) - you know it's unrealistic but it's good enough to make you suspend the disbelief, or at least the accompanying eye roll.
I don't have the hots for Jack Reacher after reading this, but I find that I have to like him, in the same way I had to like Macgyver - the dude can do anything.
So yes, I will be reading more of this series, it's hard to resist!

The first in the Jack Reacher series and a thumping good read to start it off. The first page to the last is exploding and intense. Where ever Jack Reacher goes he finds trouble or trouble finds him but he toughs it out and ends up on top to just disappear and drift on. When you read this book you will be stunned at the detail portrayed in Reachers mind and how he figures it all out and you realise just what a dangrous weapon Reachers is himself.

Lee Child's Jack Reacher is one of the most inteesting heavyweight heroes, an ex military cop who drifts from place to place mostly minding his own buisness but frequently righting wrongs and other such things. In The Killing Floor Reacher drifts into a new town and is promptly thrown in prison. In his dogged and lethal style Reacher gets to the bottom of things.

The first of Lee Child's Jack Reacher novels is, in my opinion, still the best. Written in first person narrative, we get inside the mind of the tough talking hard-man himself - and boy, is he cool. From standing alone against a cell full of bad dudes intent on violence (and explaining to us why he does what he does) to his realisations of where his thinking went wrong, this novel is just full-on from start to finish - a reccomended read who like their heros cool and agrressive, western style...
