Thoughts offers both those who are familiar with and those who are new to his works a fresh insight into the thought processes and the worldview of Italy’s last great polymath.
Born in Recanati in the Marche region, Giacomo Leopardi (1798–1837) became one of Italy’s most important poets and thinkers. He was notable in his writings for his avid thirst for knowledge and his stylistic meticulousness.
The miraculous thing about his poetry is that he simply takes the
weight out of language, to the point that it resembles
moonlight.
