About the Author

Kwabena Osei-Danquah is currently a senior official of the United Nations. His experiences as an exchange student in the United States, and through diplomatic postings, work and work-related travel or stay in over 70 countries, including development missions to countries such as Azerbaijan, Brazil, Cambodia, Guatemala, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Mexico, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Senegal, Turkey, Uganda and Uruguay have given him a unique depth of immersion in different cultures and influences his worldview and writings. A four-year tour in Ghana's diplomatic mission in the then Czechoslovakia, later the Czech Republic, with accreditation to the Slovak Republic, Poland and Hungary, during the immediate period of the velvet revolution, with the flowering of literature and music recalling the Prague Spring of 1968, added to his literary influences from the African, English, American and Russian writers he had studied for his first degree at the University of Ghana. Prague, a crossroad of western and eastern contact, and a new bohemian lifestyle in the early 1990s, gave Osei-Danquah his initial inspiration to write poetry, after an attempt at a novel at the university.
