Miriam Freedman was born in Czechoslovakia. Many of her family were murdered in the holocaust, but she managed to escape by hiding with her mother and sister. After the war she emigrated to Israel where she studied in Jerusalem. In 1979 she came across a meditation group in London run by Irina Tweedie. Mrs. Tweedie was a very powerful and mystical teacher. She propagated the teachings of a non-denominational Sufi line.
