George Douglas Brown (1869 -1902) was a teacher, journalist, novelist, short story writer, and critic, best known for his 1901 novel 'The House with the Green Shutters'. He used two pen names. 'Love and a Sword' first appeared in 1899 under the pseudonym Kennedy King, while the short story, 'In the Boer's Grip', placed in Sandow's Magazine in the same year, was written as George Douglas.
