About the Author

Ameya is a board certified Ayurvedic practitioner and massage therapist, as well as an certified Ayurvedic postpartum doula. In 2004, she finished her Ayurvedic training with a focus on the cleansing and rejuvenating therapies of Pancha Karma. In 2011, she began specializing in the field of Ayurvedic postnatal care. Ameya soon realized how essential an Ayurvedic postnatal diet was for the healing of both mother and breast-fed baby. She started her postpartum care blog in 2018, with the purpose of educating new mothers and their caregivers how to have vital postpartum recoveries through the natural practices of Ayurveda. Topics in her ShaktiCare blog include postpartum care, diet, recipes, natural newborn care and breastfeeding. Ameya has been a vegetarian since the age of 15. Only when she began her formal training in Ayurveda 5 years later did she truly learn how to cook healthy and well-balanced vegetarian meals. Cooking delicious vegetarian food has been her passion for the last two decades. Ameya lives with her husband and daughter in Northern California. She loves writing, gardening, traveling the world, eating chocolate, as well as practicing and performing the sacred Indian art of Odissi classical dance.
