About the Author

Kim Baldridge, creator and author of the 'MerryGold' series. She envisioned this series as an instrument for young minds to capture their interest and creativity in science at an early age, as well as the older enthusiast with interest in learning more about science. The book highlights the joy and empowerment one gains through playful exploration of science and nature. Kim is an accomplished theoretical and computational chemist, who, in addition to her world-class scientific research program, dedicates herself to the popularization of science through her books and many outreach activities.

Teresa Abendroth, illustrator and co-author of the 'MerryGold' series. Currently working as a Senior Editor at the University of California, San Diego, she graduated from California State University, San Marcos, with a BA in Liberal Studies, Summa cum laude. She enjoys the creation of the characters, some of which are based on real people, family members, and even pets (e.g., Mr. Buff is a buff-colored cocker spaniel rescued from the Animal Shelter at age five and is blind since due to severe cataracts, but is extremely curious and always underfoot).
