Reviews

"the wealth of information contained in the volume does mean that it will surely prove useful to students and scholars of Venice, early modern convents, and early music specialists." -- Emilie K. M. Murphy, History of Women Religious of Britain and Ireland
"Glixon includes examinations of ceremonies, consecrations, professions, funerals, organs and bells, the daily offices, the teaching of music, and some theatrical presentations by Venetian nuns. Eleven appendixes provide much of the documentation and research, from a calendar of religious observances to an inventory of versetti, liturgical books, and rules to mass ordinaries. In addition, the book has a companion website that offers auxiliary materials
such as maps, audio files, and editions of complete musical works referenced in the book. Musicologists and academic researchers of this time period will find this book of interest." --Choice
