"Beautifully crafted, Motherling is an absorbing read. Jen writes about love and of her courage in the face of unimaginable loss." -- MARGARET JACKSON ACTo suffer through the loss of a child is unimaginable. To adapt to a world without them, one could consider it impossible; Jen found a way. 'Motherling' is a memoir which does not shy away from exploring grief, and the courage it takes to overcome it. I fell in love with the trek of the Camino and colourful characters met throughout Jen's journey. My heart broke alongside hers, only to mend in the end by accepting the things we cannot change. I highly recommend it! -- GOOD READSHonestly and beautifully written, spiritual, but also grounded. It's an important read for parents. Jen's story has taught me to remain a little cautious with my grown up kids, that things can still go wrong and just to love the time I have with them. The way she writes of what it's like having a partner with alcohol dependency is spot on. Such an unbelievably strong, smart and brave lady. I'm so motivated to walk more now! -- GOOD READSI immensely enjoyed this true story of transformation, self-discovery, and adventure after tremendous loss. The author honestly shares her suffering and challenges but with an attitude of hope and resilience. She ably articulates her journey - paralleling the physical and spiritual progress she makes. As a future Camino De Santiago pilgrim, I appreciated tips (delivered seamlessly as part of the story) making notes for my own upcoming journey of what are must sees and also what to avoid. Mostly, I cheered for her growth! Her daily courage -relationally, creatively, physically, emotionally - inspires and makes this an outstanding read. -- GOOD READSI am in awe of ordinary people who undertake extraordinary feats of endurance and commit to physical endeavours beyond what they thought were possible. Real life doesn't always have happy endings, but this walk gave Jen and Graeme the space and time to heal themselves and their family and, if not to find peace, at least to find a way they could live with their grief.
