About the Author

E. A. REES is Professor of East European History at the European University Institute, Florence. He is the author of State Control in Soviet Russia and Stalinism and Soviet Rail Transport. This book is the final volume of a series of works exploring the nature of decision-making under Stalin. The two earlier volumes which Professor Rees has edited are Decision-Making in the Stalinist Command Economy, 1932-1937 and Centre-Local Relations in the Stalinist State, 1928-1941.
