About the Author

NICK HERD was Executive Director of the Screen Producers' Association of Australian until 2001 and administrator of the Screen Filmmakers Co-op between 1976 and 1981. He then worked in programming for SBS Television and from 1987 to 1997 was senior officer of the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal (now the Australian Broadcasting Authority), He is currently chief researcher on a comprehensive history of Australian television at the University of Technology, Sydney.
