BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH Henry Gerald Holmes Henry Gerald Holmes is an African American Artist now living in Baltimore, Maryland. He is a native of Harlem, New York. He was educated in the New York City School System with some studies here at the Maryland Institute Of Art, Baltimore, Maryland. His interest in art comes from his grandfather who was an avid painter. Henry has cultivated his talent in art by exploring a variety of photographic and fabric techniques. His style is original and creative. He proclaims his love for art through layering techniques with photographs and his hand painting. He also attributes his arts to fabric painting. Using various colors of fabrics to enhanced his portraiture quilts. For his subject matter of his photographic skills, he turns to the world as humans, animals, landscapes play central elements in his artistic expressions. His chief source of inspiration is "life itself-everything around me" quotes Henry Holmes. What he strives for are not realistic portraits done in Black & White but by making every segment of his image an interesting artistic exploration by itself. Henry says, "Come and experience my vision".
