An American coming-of-age classic, a story of friendship and social prejudice among a gang of friends from bestselling author, S.E. Hinton.
S.E. Hinton was born in Oklahoma, where she still lives with her
husband and son. She began writing The Outsiders as a 15 year old
high school student as she was unsatisfied with the literature that
was being written for young adults.
Hinton has won numerous awards for her writing and has been
inducted into the Oklahoma Writers Hall of Fame. Several of her
works have been adapted into film. Jim Fyfe is a gifted American
actor and narrator who has worked extensively in theatre, film and
television, as well as having narrated many audiobooks. He has
performed for various theatre companies including Broadway
productions both in New York and Los Angeles. Fyfe’s film and
television credits include the roles of Willie Loomis and Ben
Loomis on the 1991 NBC Dark Shadows revival series, as well as many
films including Walking to the Waterline, Kill the Man and The Real
Blonde.
'The Outsiders is gritty, honest and authentic, and a novel that I
feel every teenager needs to read.'
*The Guardian*
'This classic, written by S. E. Hinton when she was 16 years old,
is as profound today as it was when it was first published in
1967.'
