Kathleen M. Schurman and her husband, David, live on Locket's Meadow, a Connecticut farm animal rescue and sanctuary where they have saved animals from slaughter and abuse since 2002. Kathleen holds a masters degree in journalism from Quinnipiac University and has worked at various area media outlets, but is probably best known for her work as a medium and animal communicator. Kathleen began her writing career as a playwright, providing the plays for her many drama students. She still has a book of plays in print, One-Act Plays for Children, published through Dramatists. During her career as a journalist she began writing children's books, geared toward readers from fourth through eighth grade. Due to the spiritual content of her work, however, she attracts a wide adult readership. Kathleen wrote Kidd's Kids, an island adventure based on her own children's childhoods, while living in a beach house, in Milford, CT, with a view of Charles Island where legend holds that Captain Kidd buried some of his treasure. A move to the country, and the establishment of the animal rescue, inspired her to begin the Locket's Meadow series, starting with The Long Road Home, followed by Captain of the Dance and now Ozzie's Promise. A young reader's picture book, Ozzie Osboar Counts to Fifteen, attracted a new audience. Just for fun, Kathleen also wrote an adult novella, Three Days in August, that follows an unlikely pair of star-crossed lovers as they travel through lifetimes, trying to fulfill their destinies, albeit with very little grace.
