Reviews

Issue 26, 2005 This book is an excellent introduction to painting watercolour pictures. William Newton keeps his descriptions simple and clear. he uses just a few basic colours and yet manages to achieve fresh engaging paintings. A professional artist for over 20 years, he knows what is needed from a step-by-step book. You can't fail to produce a pleasing result from following the processes in here. The crisp drawing shows how effective simple shapes can be. Well worth the money.

May 2006 All aspects of painting with watercolours are covered in this fantastic book. Thorough explanations of each step in painting makes this book a pleasure to read. William Newton illustrates the basic techniques and then provides four stunning step-by-step demonstrations. They are very inspirational and make you want to reach for your paintbrush. From now on every watercolour painting will be an excitement for me as I will be unravelling the painting to see exactly how it was accomplished. I was very eager to attempt a similar painting after reading this book and I found by following the basic techniques Newton outlines I accomplished a wonderful painting. William Newton is sure to inspire any artist!
