Emanuele Intagliata is Teaching Fellow in Byzantine Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. He has been involved in several research projects relating to Palmyra, as well as taking part in the Caucasian Gate and Gorgan Wall projects in Iran.
The volume is an excellent reference for the archaeological remains themselves, and an important milestone in the trend towards understanding the historically neglected later phases of the monumental Classical sites of the Near East, as is being done for Jerash, Petra - and now, Palmyra. * Current World Archaeology *
