Have read to children from age 8 to 11 years. Good discussion about behaviour and values. Excellent detail in illustrations for discussion.

Bought for a very strong minded 4 year old who is finding her way and discovering the 'girls cant'/'boys can' divide around her opinions and physical play at school. She loves this book.

I was disappointed actually. I got this book because it was recommended as a good one for young girls (in terms of life lessons). It isn't. Its a nice story but the ending could have been a lot more effective.

Love it, simply love it! Bought as an antidote to the never ending pink happy ever after princess madness for my four year old grand daughter. She listened intently and on the last page looked up with delighted horror at the use of such a word! (Shall not spoil it for you!) Hopefully it will for ever implant the message that not all princes in life are worth sacrificing yourself for and that it's often best to discard then commit to the unworthy - highly recommended!

A delightful book, with a positive message about substance over image, but managing to get this across without preaching. And my granddaughters love it.

I remember reading this book as a little girl and my daughters love it to. It's a princess story but with a edge to it that shows girls that they can think for themselves and be independent not having to wait for a prince charming to come and rescue them. It's light hearted and I love the ending.

Love it! It is nice to see a princess story finish up with a nice twist ie not a 'disneyfied' true love ending. More early feminist literature that every girl needs to be exposed to!

This is a great book to let little girls know that they can be self-determined. Wonderful illustrations coupled with an easy to follow story makes for a timeless fairytale. Perfect time to buy with all this William and Kate carry-on.

This is an awesome book! I've had this one for over 20 years and it's all about girl power! Not the Spice Girl sense, but in the every girl can be strong and do their own thing kind of girl power. Great illustrations, got all the important bits (the princess, the prince, the dragon) and a nice simple story. Highly recommended for any little girl. Easy to read, or easy to follow with a bit of help.
