Pierre Bourdieu is Professor of Sociology at the College de France and Director of Studies at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales. Stanford University Press has published eleven other books by Bourdieu, most recently The Weight of the World: Social Suffering in Contemporary Societies (1999).
