About the Author

Vivienne Brown is Professor Emerita of Philosophy and Intellectual History at The Open University, UK. She is the author of Adam Smith's Discourse: Canonicity, Commerce and Conscience and numerous articles in a range of disciplinary and interdisciplinary journals. She is the founding editor of The Adam Smith Review. Samuel Fleischacker is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He works on moral and political philosophy, and is the author of A Third Concept of Liberty: Judgment and Freedom in Kant and Adam Smith, and On Adam Smith's Wealth of Nations:aA Philosophical Companion.From 2006 to 2010, he was President of the International Adam Smith Society.
