About the Author

Robert W. Passfield, senior historian (retired), Parks Canada Agency, has prepared numerous reports recording and evaluating historic engineering sites and structures in support of the heritage conservation mandate of Parks Canada, as well as submission report evaluating the historical significance of persons, places, and events on a national level in Canada, in support of the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. He has published widely in the industrial archaeology, history of technology, public works history, and heritage conservation fields.
