Alamira Reem Bani Hashim has a PhD in City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, USA. She is the first Emirati woman to be awarded a PhD in Planning.
Bani Hashim, a practicing urban planner and Abu Dhabian, cleverly weaves personal and urban history together, using archival material, interviews with key actors, and spatial mapping. A chronological investigation that engages images, diagrams, and narratives, it provides a methodology that may prove useful for future studies of other Arab cities.- Dalal Musaed Alsayer, Traditional Dwellings and Settlements Review, issue 31.2
