Carl Schoonover is a doctoral candidate in neurobiology and behaviour at Columbia University Medical Center and was recently elected a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellow. His background in philosophy (Harvard BA, Ecole Normale Superieure MA), his longstanding interest in contemporary art and design, and his experience and contacts in the neuroscience world make this, his first book, a natural fit. He has written on neuroscience for the general audience in publications such as Le Figaro (French national daily) and Commentaire (French politics and culture quarterly), and recently co-founded NeuWrite, a collaborative working group for scientists, writers and those in-between.
