About the Authors
Julie A. Schumacher, PhD is Professor and Vice Chair for
Education in the Dept. of Psychiatry and Human Behavior, at the
University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, MS. Her
work focuses on the intersection of alcohol and other drugs with
violence and interpersonal trauma as well as methods for enhancing
the dissemination and implementation of evidence based brief
interventions for individuals with substance use problems. Visit

Daniel C. Williams, PhD is an associate professor of
psychiatry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
He earned his M.S. in clinical psychology in 2 4 and his Ph.D. in
clinical psychology in 2 7 at the University of Memphis, with an
emphasis in adult psychopathology and psychotherapy. He has served
as a consultant for the VA Office of Mental Health Services since 2
, training providers in evidence-based psychotherapies. Williams'
research focuses on the implementation of evidence-based practices
in health-care systems and qualitative research methodology. His
clinical work emphasizes evidence-based interventions for addictive
