He has been at times an engineer, a real estate developer, a hockey guy (founder of NHL team the Ottawa Senators, Scotiabank Place Arena and Ottawa Senators Foundation, a children's charity), University Prof, a consultant, art collector and benefactor, writer, columnist, futurist and novelist as well as Executive Director of not-for-profit Exploriem.org dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs everywhere. Firestone has taught and studied at McGill University, Laval University, the University of New South Wales, the Australian National University, Harvard University, University of Western Ontario, Carleton University and the University of Ottawa, in the subject areas of entrepreneurship, business models, architecture, engineering, finance, urban planning, urban design and development economics.
