About the Author

Melvyn L. Fein is professor of sociology at Kennesaw State University in Georgia and is the editor of the Journal of Public and Professional Sociology.

Reviews

-[This] book is a call for higher standards and resistance to the culture of student entitlement, but it is very far from a standard-issue diatribe against the excesses of campus liberalism. . . . Redefining Higher Education is based on sharp observation. Fein briskly summarizes more familiar controversies and takes us on to new territory. He commands a dragon's hoard of material but spends it freely. He lives up to his own recommendation by giving us an exemplification of what a professional academic committed to the canons of personal responsibility looks like.-

--Peter Wood, president, National Association of Scholars
