Nora Roberts is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of more than 200 novels. She is also the author of the bestselling In Death series written under the pen name J. D. Robb. There are more than 500 million copies of her books in print.
David Stuart's reading of Rising Tides elevates to new heights an already excellent story. From taciturn Ethan, a waterman both by choice and calling, to single mother Grace, as delicate as steel but with an endless capacity for love, to Seth, the child who has already experienced the worst of life and who desperately needs to believe in someone, Stuart is always on target. He characterizes children as easily as he does women, though Grace is a standout. He changes his pitch and cadence just enough to imply femininity without falling victim to vocal caricature. The story is one of Roberts's (Holding the Dream, Audio Reviews, LJ 3/15/97) stronger efforts and is a definite teaser for the final book of the trilogy. Though often dark and graphic, the story is compelling and transfers well to audio. Large public libraries may want to purchase several copies.‘Jodi L. Israel, Jamaica Plain, MA
