Former Navy SEAL commander Marcinko has already given us his leadership secrets (Leadership Secrets of the Rogue Warrior: A Commando's Guide to Success, Pocket Bks., 1996). Now, he gives us the principles needed to succeed in any given endeavor. His principles are common sense: be focused, train hard, be willing to risk, never be complacent, and more. Each of the principles is illustrated by an example from life, business, or the military. An anonymous woman with a pleasant voice introduces each section, with the author reading most of the text. Marcinko reads clearly and with enthusiasm, and the contrast in voices is enjoyable. A practical, no-nonsense work, this should be in all popular collections.‘Michael T.
