Susan Winters Smith was born in Norwood, MA, grew up in rural VT and has lived in CT with her husband Stephen for most of her adult life. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1965 and the University of Vermont in 1969, later earning a Master's degree from St. Joseph College in West Hartford. She has written stories and poems all of her life, while going to school, raising three children, caring for a handicapped uncle, and working in the fields of special education, freelance journalism and social work. Susan is a member of CAPA and LVW. Her many interests include genealogy, gardening, nature, environmentalism, women's issues, spirituality, photography, art, and music. Susan has had articles and poetry published in newspapers and genealogical journals. She self-published two mystery novels, "The Mystery at Seymour Lake Lodge", and "The Mystery of Hunger Mountain", as well as two books of poetry.
