Becca Stevens is an Episcopal priest at St Augustine's Chapel on the Vanderbilt University Campus. She is the founder of Magdalene, a residential community for women with a criminal history of prostitution and drug abuse. In 2000 Becca was named Nashvillian of the Year by Nashville Scene newspaper and in 2001 she was recognised by YWCA's Academy of Women of Achievement. Becca is also author of Sisters: Finding Balance.
Sanctuary is simply an effort at being courageous enough to name love as real and palatable in every place we walk. It is being optimistic in believing that love can be a powerful force for change in the world. And it is being faithful to the promise of a God who made the world sacramental in sending love to be incarnate among us.
