"Where was this book after I gave birth?!...I cannot overstate just
how valuable 'SECOND LABOR' is for validating women in that
difficult time. Some cases of postpartum depression could be
avoided if women read 'SECOND LABOR' during pregnancy to prepare
themselves for the challenges that follow birth. I needed this book
fifteen years ago, when I first became a mother. I can only be
grateful that Chaya Kasse Valier has filled that need now."
- Amanda Bradley, Writer, Mother of Three"I really loved
it...Definitely a book for my pregnancy lending library."
- Rachelle Oseran, Lamaze Childbirth Educator/Trainer, Mother of
Three"SECOND LABOR was well written and edited, and each of the
stories stood alone quite well. As someone who doesn't read
birthing literature, I was amazed that I found each chapter so
captivating. Chaya Valier had the insight and experience to find
mothers from around the world to share their stories, and each one
had a new angle about her new angel."
- Doug Goldstein, Financial Advisor, Father of Four"As a midwife, I
see women in need of tremendous support after their births. This
book shows such an accurate spectrum of experiences, and I can see
it really increasing the awareness of how much support is needed
during the postpartum period. Also, the stories were just very
interesting to read. I'm grateful to Chaya Kasse Valier for getting
the word out via SECOND LABOR!" - Leigh Maller, Certified
Professional Midwife, Mother of Seven"I am one of the contributing
writers in this book, and I was so pleased to have the opportunity
to share my story about what it was like after we had our 3rd baby
- a girl after two boys, the youngest of which was already eight
years old. Before writing for this book, no one had ever asked me
about how I felt, AFTER the birth. I hope this book will be used to
inspire and educate other parents, parents-to-be, and anyone
supporting them. Thank you Chaya Kasse Valier - I really
appreciated the chance to share my story."
- Abby Friedman, Director, College Prep Academy, Mother of
Three"This heartwarming book is a must-read for expectant families,
and the professional and lay people who care for and about them.
Reading these true stories - written with love, as well as heart
(and body) aches, brought laughter, smiles and tears to my own
heart.. It also brought memories of my own "second labors" (even
though that term hadn't been invented until this book) and thoughts
I had at the time about "things your mother never told you."
-Ruth Kramer, Mother of Three, Grandmother of Ten"I was enthralled
reading these stories, and I do not even have children yet. It
taught me about what life can really be like after you have a baby.
A few family members and close friends have confided in me about
how hard it was at first, so I'm glad there's a book out there to
help people see what it's really like." - Avital Macales,
Translator & Editor, Singer"There was something in every one of the
stories that I could relate to."
- Rachel Oppenheim, Actress, Mother of Eight
