About the Author

Sarah Getty grew up near Chicago, attended Stanford University, and received a Ph.D. in English literature from the University of Pennsylvania. Her fiction has appeared in The Iowa Review and the anthology Still Going Strong (Haworth Press, 2005). An excerpt from Spend All You Have won Long Story Short's summer 2006 competition. Sarah was also an award-winning poet, with three published books of poems. She completed Clap Hands, her third book of poems, only two months before her death from cancer in 2009. Her second published book of poems, Bring Me Her Heart, received nominations for the Pulitzer Prize and the National Book Award. Her first collection, The Land of Milk and Honey, appeared as part of the James Dickey Contemporary Poetry Series and won a Cambridge Poetry Award in 2002. Sarah's poems have appeared in leading literary magazines and many anthologies. She was a resident poet at the Ragdale Foundation, the Villa Vergiliana in Italy, and the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts.
