About the Author

ERIC A. WAGNER was Professor of Sociology and Chairman of the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Ohio University. Since 1974 his articles have been published in Review of Sport and Leisure, International Review of Sport Sociology, Journal of Sport and Social Issues, Sociology and Social Research, Studies in Latin American Popular Culture, and Journal of Popular Culture. He contributed the chapter, Sports, in Handbook of Latin American Popular Culture (Greenwood Press, 1985) and Sport in Revolutionary Societies: Cuba and Nicaragua, in Sport and Society in Latin America (Greenwood Press, 1988).
