About the Author

Dereck C. Lockwood was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to California in 1970. He currently resides in Chico, California. Being formally trained in fashion design and as a pattern maker it was an easy step for him to jump to quilting which he did back in 1974. From 70's to the mid 90's, his designs were published in American Quilter, Quilter's Newsletter,and Fons and Porter and other quilting magazines. He also submitted his original quilts for judging from local to international competitions and won many awards along the way from 3rd Place to Best of Show. In '98 he decided to start offering patterns for his designs direct to the general public. He is a very versatile quilter, using both piecing and applique in his designs. He has become especially well known for his Bargello quilts and for his complex but creative designs that can challenge even an experienced quilter. That said, a beginning quilter who wants to expand their knowledge, improve their techniques, and produce spectacular quilts will also enjoy sewing his designs.
