Clive Cussler is the author or coauthor of over fifty previous books in five bestselling series, including Dirk Pitt(R), NUMA(R) Files, Oregon(R) Files, Isaac Bell, and Sam and Remi Fargo. His nonfiction works include Built for Adventure The Classic Automobiles of Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt, and Built to Thrill: More Classic Automobiles from Clive Cussler and Dirk Pitt, plus The Sea Huntersand The Sea Hunters II; these describe the true adventures of the real NUMA, which, led by Cussler, searches for lost ships of historic significance. With his crew of volunteers, Cussler has discovered more than sixty ships, including the long-lost Confederate ship Hunley. He lives in Colorado and Arizona. Graham Brown is the author of Black Rain and Black Sun, and the coauthor with Cussler of Devil's Gate, The Storm, Zero Hour, Ghost Ship, The Pharaoh's Secret, and Nighthawk. A pilot and an attorney, he lives in Arizona.
In this tenth entry in Cussler's "NUMA Files" series, a National Underwater and Marine Agency (NUMA) research vessel in the Indian Ocean mysteriously burns and its experienced crew is lost. The agency sends Kurt Austin, Joe Zavala, and the usual team members to investigate. Kurt and Joe clash with a maniacal, power-hungry villain intent on controlling the world's food supply by altering the ocean's temperature. Award-winning audiobook reader Scott Brick ably brings the characters to life and is equally adept at interpreting male and female personas. VERDICT Cussler fans will be happy to have another familiar adventure to digest. Thriller lovers and those interested in nautical adventures also will enjoy it.
